I am trying to update newly installed Win. 8 so I can install Win 8.1. Up[grade will not

take, upon rebooting it has a failure to update and reverting changes(takes forever). I

have had this problem before and usually doing a "troubleshoot updates" and a clean boot

worked, even did a sfc/scannow. Nothing seems to work. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

This is not a new machine, due to boot problems I re-installed to factory(Win7), loaded all the updated and drivers and installed Win 8. Tried to install all updates, but upon re-booting I get the message it was was reverting all the downloads, tryed all the procedures stated in my my post and it is still happening.I am using an HP6142P 650G HD, 8G Ram.Intel i3.

My suggestion would be to download the Windows 8.1 ISO from Microsofts site and re install from there - Nothing better than a fresh install,

We have had many issues with 8 +8.1 failing updates, have tried all the usual with update trouble shooter, clearing the update cache, and usuing wsus offline, but to no success, we ended up refreshing the pcs as a resolution
