I updated XP to SP3 and it's been a pain, all my browsers crash, none of my installed games will play, can't play any games online, and using the browsers there is a time delay that wasn't there before.
I reinstalled everything to no avail. Firefox 3.6 and 4 beta hang all the time with the adobe flash plugiin.
Did virus scans and found nothing.
Defragged and cleaned, everything worked fine until Microsoft downloaded the updates. Tried a system restore too, but it wouldn't restore.
    Please help me.
I have the latest Google Chrome, IE7 (had to uninstall IE8) and both Firefox 3.6 and 4 beta.
Chrome crashes right away and the only way it will work again is to totally reinstall it!

    Greetings, adownriverdiva.

Do you experience the crashes while in Safe Mode with Networking?

Have you tried any of the browsers with their own Safe Made settings (ie: no plug-ins or add-ons)?

Check your Event Viewer for any flags that might stand out at or near the times of the crashes.

May as well give is some system specs:

Please download and install Everest, a free system information tool.

Run Everest and click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next
Choose System Summary Only > Next
Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report
Click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) and click Save (n.b. Save to desktop, use Browse to locate desktop)

Then attach your log to your next post per these instructions: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post.

Haven't really tried to use in safe mode, but once and Firefox worked ok for the short time I used it.
While waiting for a response I installed and used the latest Malware bytes and Combofix, and cleaned up as much junk as I could find. I did most of the virus clean up that was recommended in case there was a virus. Found nothing.
Downloaded and reinstalled all browsers. I know that Firefox has an issue with the adobe flash plugin crashing all the time. D ownloaded and installed the new flash, but only for Firefox, just learned that IE needs another installer.
Both IE and Firefox work better, but still keep crashing. Chrome won't work at all. IE is more stable, can play a few worldwinner.com games without crashing. Can surf for about a half hour now before the crash.
The time delay is frustrating because I have to wait for the cursor to blink before I can click, click a radio button, fill in, or do anything at all. This was not happening before the updates. It was faster on my 8088!
Ran Everest, attached the file as instucted.
I didn't have enough free space to add all the new updates that seemed to endlessly popping up after I installed the SP3. I did clean out and free up about 7-8 gb after, just so it wouldn't freeze up.
I about ready to just install the new 500 gb hard drive for a lot more space, would that help, could I add Windows 7 to that drive and just transfer my files there?
Can I do that and not use XP anymore?
    I have a 5 year old Dell Dimenion 4700
Oh yeah I had tried to use IE8 and had to uninstall right away.
    Could that be the problem?
Firefox 3.6 works better than Firefox 4 beta, but they both crash after about 5-8 min.

Sounds like you might have multiple issues going on.

As far as switching to Win 7, you probably need to d/l and install the Win 7 Upgrade Advisor to ensure that the rest of your machine's hardware can meet the minimum specs.

You Everest report is not showing - please try again.

Use the Uninstaller for Adobe Flash before a fresh install:
    Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

    Adobe Flash Player download:
    Adobe Flash Player for IE

Below the description text, see the following Link:
Firefox, Safari and Opera users need this version
