Updates about my dad's surgeries

I have posted before about my dad and his surgery and haven't posted about this in a long long time so here it is.

The first back surgery failed and he had to have it done again. The other day he just found it it failed as well so now he has to get it done with a different system. They have to rebuild the discs in his lower back and he has to say in the hospital for nearly a month. Also about a year and a half recovery.

I hope this will be the last straw.

I remember the post about your dad and having had back surgery i feel for him.
What a bummer 2 failures and the prospect of more.
My back is full of screws and plates also my neck and hip so i know what he is going through.

Please give him my best wishes and i will pray (i don't do that often) for a speedy recovery.

Back surgery is not an easy thing to live with, my Uncle has suffered with all sorts of 'work' being done to his back for the past decade. Hopefully, his last op will be this summer.

This has to be very hard on him and know you're worried, seeing someone you love in pain is a hopeless feeling. Best wishes and hope the next operation is successful, they would not do it unless the odds of a good outcome were on his side, so there's hope.

I sure hope they get your Dad's back sorted out soon, pcl. I've had fusion on two of my vertebrae over 20 years ago, and it still gives me pain. Thoughts and prayers with you and your Dad. Take care.

 

I am very sorry to read what your dad is going through, and I am sure it's very difficult for those who love him to watch him be in such pain, and deal with such frustrations. I hope this will be his final surgery, and that the recovery goes better than expected. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Just as an update he will get it done on June 8th

Aw honey, yeah about a week now huh? He'll be ok, give him encouragement, grown ups need that too. Will say a prayer for him, and you. It's hard to be in the hospital.

 

Aye, no bother. Medics can work miracles nowadays. With each passing year, great strides are taken in the field of medical research. Just ask Halo, he works thereabouts.
Improvements in the procedures and techniques used today probably outstrip the first time your pa had a back op.
It's easy to say, not so easy to do, but try not to dwell on it, you'll only make yourself ill with worry.
More prayers and more best wishes to all, especially your pa and his surgeon.

 

As an update he is doing well and I talked to him. He will be home sooner I thought. May be home on friday.

That's good news, wow Fri that is fast, hope your feeling better also, such a worry when a loved one goes in the hosp.

Cool Eric, I hope this is the beginning of the end of his troubles.

 

He most likely will be coming home Monday. I am going to see him tomorrow.

 

My dad has been home since Thursday. They didn't have to put more stuff info his back. All they had to do is remove the broken hardware as they said he spine was healed and stable.

He is already walking normally just will take some time for the holes in his spine to heal and for his wound to heal.

 

Great news. So it looks like the op was a success?
Hope he keeps on with the rapid progress.
