Updating Issues

Running XP with Service Pack 3

All updates appear to have run successfully, and the computer seems to be operating properly. However, EVERY TIME I reboot I receive a message... "Computer must be restarted before updating can continue. Reply Yes or No."

I have no idea what software is issuing this command and have tried both responses. If I respond 'yes' the system reboots and I get the same message. If I respond 'No', I simply contiue about my business and the system appears fine.

I have not downloaded anything recently and AVG is up to date. I also ran Malwarebytes and produced very view errors which I deleted. The computer is only used for writing simple documents, email and browsing. No kids around and we are seniors.

If this were my machine (I'm a Sr. too) I would do a "System Restore" to the last restore point before the updates that caused your problem.
I have to use System Restore at least once a week, to fix some update or software Boo-Boo.
If by some chance your System Restore has been shut off..... Turn it back on.
It's always your first line of defense against update or software errors, messing up Windows.

Unfortunately, this is my sister's PC and I'm visiting. She states this has been happening for well over a year <grin.> and she just lives with it. Don't have restore points that far back. Thanks
