Driver Booster identifies outdated HID-compliant mouse driver as indicated above. It's a Microsoft optical mouse in my Win7 desktop. If I update the driver to Logitech, will there be any conflict or issue with functionality of the mouse? The Logitech update is for 2008 vs 2006 for the current Microsoft driver.

Just another reason to avoid 3rd party driver update programs.

Does your mouse work fine now? If so, don't fix it! If you are having problems and you suspect a driver issue, go out to your mouse's webpage and download and install the latest driver from there.

There is no reason the program should be suggesting a Logitech driver for a Microsoft mouse. So something is wrong there. Installing the wrong mouse driver "probably" will not break any basic mouse features because they are standard. But if your MS mouse has any extra features beyond a basic mouse, they may break.

I've interchanged a MS mobile mouse with a Logitech mouse on my laptop (purchased in 2013 and running 64 bit Win 7 Home). I've never installed a driver or program for either mice. They both work fine.

Every mouse should work just find without ever having to install special drivers. This is because Windows (and Linux) already know how to support regular mouse movements, button clicks and even scroll wheels.

Remember, your mouse also works in your BIOS Setup Menu - which is before any OS is even loaded. And in Windows Safe Mode, special drivers are not loaded yet basic mouse functions still work. Why? Because basic mouse functions are supported natively in operating systems and motherboard BIOS firmware.

So specific mouse drivers are only needed if your mouse has special non-standard functions. This is the same with keyboards, BTW.
