ABIT IC7-G board died so I'm seriously considering an ABIT IP 35 Pro motherboard. I'm not a gamer but I do a lot of desk top publishing. I'm looking to build a system that's going to run without problems for another 5 years. I'm considering the following componets: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor. CORSAIR XMS2 2GB memory. XION Supernova XON-600F14R-201 ATX12V 600W Power Supply. I don't suppose my old Corsair Platinum Series XMS DDR memory would work in a IP 35 Pro motherboard would it?

    Any thought to this combination?

If you are wanting it to run for another 5 Years then I think you should buy THE very best of everything you need, even then I think 5 years is a bit of a stretch.Unless you are not much of a gamer.

Already stated that he's not a gamer, as far as the "best" of everything goes it's not neccessary. The components picked will do just fine for your needs and no your old ddr ram will not run on p35 board.
