i just tried to run cs:s and it said i should update my video card drivers.

    I have a ATI 9800 pro 256

I dled the newest driver for it 5.5 or something like that.

But i think i remember somthing like you have to make sure you get all of your old driver un-installed b4 installing the new one????

is this true? if so how would i go about doing this??

    driver cleaner....

On the note of uninstalling the previous driver b4 you install the newer one......I have never done this. Though, i Have never switched from ati to nvidia (vice-versa). Usually, you won't have to uninstall the old to install the new. I personally haven't needed to. Though, I'm only one user amongst billions....

I had some problems when changing my video card from NVIDIA to ATI. When I cleaned up the NVIDIA drivers and then installed ATI. It installed smooth.

If you are just updating the driver then you dont have to remove the old drivers. But if you are changing the hardware and then you need to unistall the old drivers.
