Upgrade Computer For Games

Hello!

I've been satisfied with my PC's performance for a long time, yet recently when trying to play "Dishonored 2" and "Nier Automata" I've experienced performance issues. So I figured it's about time I upgrade my PC, yet I don't know much about computers so I don't know what I need to upgrade. Is it enough that I get a new graphics card? If so, what would be a good one that costs less than ~500$? Or do I need to upgrade more parts?

According to Max's link, you need 8gb( min )to 16 gb ram. - SO, that should be O.K
Graphics card might be your most useful upgrade - Recommended NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB or better
Rather expensive.......

 

That CPU is no slouch and you already have 16 GB of memory; but, your graphics card is not stellar:

I like to use Passmark (which is where videocardbenchmark is) as a way to find the best "bang for the buck" so go look and see what you like.

 

That's the 'Minimum'
The 'Recommended' is actually different:
NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB/AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB or better

There are a bunch of GTX 1070 cards that more than double your performance and are below your target price:

The NVIDIA GTX 1060 6gb is the first recommendation and it is much cheaper than any of those.

There are AMD games and nVidia games. You have to get a card that plays well with your games or go for overkill to play those that prefer the other card. Dishonored 2 is a nVidia game, decide what frame rate you want/can afford. Be sure to get at least 3GB RAM on your card.

Both recommend a minimum 6gb for an Nvidia Graphics card.

 

Yes that is all you need. And an NVIDIA GTX 1060 6gb one is best and the recommended card is mostly less than $300 wherever you search.
