Hello! I would like to upgrade the cpu in my Acer Aspire PC. Here are specs. Mainly - I need to know, what chip can I replace the Q9400 with? I've done a ton of Googling but can't find anything specific. I reviewed the forum topics, but didn't find anything there. I am upgrading to (hopefully) improve gameplay, mainly with Rust. Thanks for your help, as always! :)

I generally recommend upgrading the graphics solution before the CPU. But sadly, we cannot see what you are using for graphics. I note there are several models in the M5800 "series" with some using integrated and some with less than stellar graphics options.

I appreciate your help, btw! :) My next question i suppose is, whether it's worth it... the PC is doing OK (i'm getting 50-75 fps in Rust) and except for some lag in busy places, game play is acceptable. I wonder whether the upgrade would be worth the hassle. The GPU is great and I LOVE the SSD, am trying to convince hubby to let me switch his hdd out.

Well, with the 4GB version of that card installed, I'd say you definitely have a decent card. The next thing to determine is if the programs you want to use are CPU or GPU intensive. If mostly GPU, upgrading the CPU will not help much. It seems most folks say Rust is GPU intensive. I am not sure upgrading the CPU is really worth the money.

Well, "worth the money" is really a subjective term. Some may feel twice the money is still worth it while others may feel it is a total waste of money. I somewhere in the middle but am leaning closer to the latter. Consequently, not sure I've been much help.

Your opinion is appreciated, Digerati (lol probably because it reflects mine.) OK, until I have a spare $600-$800 to build my own, I'll make do with this iteration. Thanks again!

Sounds like a plan and you are welcome.
