Upgrade from Mandrake 10 to Mandrive Question

I was considering upgrading from Mandrake 10 to Mandriva 2009. Will the upgrade wipe out things like addess books and user data. I'm not to thrilled with the idea of backing up and having to restore all my stuff.

 

how are you thinking of upgrading ?

i had to use easyurpmi when i upgraded from 2008 to 2009 as the online upgrade was dissabled, my system became very unstable,
in the end i had to do a complete install of 2009

you can use easyurpmi to upgrade mandrake but i would advise to back-up your whole system to cd/dvd using partimage (or another drive, if you have one),
if you do it this way you have to remove all your repositories first

another option maybe to download the 2009 cd, boot from the cd and it should ask you if you want to upgrade
