A friend of mine bought a HP Pavilion Laptop about 6 months ago with Vista preloaded. He can't get on with it and more to the point he now has to run a couple of business programs that are incompatible with Vista.

Can anybody foresee any problems with buying XP Pro and formatting the HDD and loading XP on it?

    TIA

The biggest problem encountered with "upgrading" from Vista to XP is getting the proper drivers for your computer.
Many manufacturers (such as HP) have stopped making XP drivers available for their products, opting instead for Vista only drivers.
If you could give us the model number of the computer we could do a check and see if the XP drivers are available.

Somewhat unlikely as they have just released SP3 and Dell are still insisting on buying it as an OEM.
