Upgrade Graphic card

I have a
Hp Pavilion a310n with Intel Extreme graphics with up to 64mb shared video memory
Can the shared graphic card be upgraded.

Hi Zero just did a quick google on your machine and if its the 2.7ghz celeron model i found, then unfortunately the motherboard does not have an AGP slot
Your current graphics are built into the motherboard and are therefore non upgradeable sorry

 

You may want to see though if you have a PCI slot.

 

thats a good point Neonemesis should have mentioned that really but i hate them myself and if it was me id stick with the 64mb intel extreme until i could afford a new mobo/processor combi as im sure gaming with a celeron cant be that much fun no matter what card you put in there

So Zero what sort of games do you play and what sort of budget have you got

I have 3 PCI slots one slot has the phone line there are 2 open ones
I was given a GeFORCE FX 5200 PCI 128Mb DDR i was wondering if i could use one of the other slots

This is for my son ) He plays Counter Strike

 

Really. I didn't know they made FX cards for PCI slots. That is pretty cool. Learn something new everyday ^_^

 

Yeah if its a PCI card no problem, you may need to disable the onboard video in the bios first, counter strike is a fairly old game so will play ok on that card but you will have problems with some of the newer games on the market
