Upgrade to 9800GT, Now NO SOUND !

Hi, I know there is a thread from a while back about the same issue, but i have windows 7 and i think the fix was just for XP.

I put together the basics for my cousin with help and got him a new gfx card. The sound was ok untill i out in the 9800Gt gfx card and now there is NO sound and youtube is REALLY laggy, i mean jots and picture freezes, which it didnt do before.

Looked online and have NO IDEA what all the technical stuff is on about and he has his machine connected up to a Tv which he uses as the monitor?

I was just using an audio cable from the TV into the back jack hole? is this a stupid mistake and obvious fix or is it harder? Hope someone can help as i have NO IDEA what to do and he would like some sound back lol

Any errors under the control panel? Start, Control Panel, System, Device Manager and look for any yellow exlamation points. Sometimes you can remove a device and let it redetect and fix and conflicts. That said I am sure you installed all the latest drivers for sound and video?

I have looked in device manger no yellow exlamation points. And I have the video and sound drivers installed. Any help?

Hi

Could you attach the log from the below as it seems as if you may need a re-install of the chipset driver and then the latest Nvidia driver to fix this.

Download the free, Speccy HERE then run Speccy and click File > Save as Text File, then attach the log as per instructions below (note: as Speccy also now lists more data it likely will have your Windows license serial key also in the log, so look for Operating System and under that Serial Number and delete the code and Save the log)

Your Windows 7 is it at Service Pack 1 or not? if not at SP1 then update.
As this was a new GFX card what was the old cards make and model? and did you uninstall its driver first before installing this new card?

Youtube Videos also need Adobe Flash Player so the below maybe helpful once you have done the above steps first

I would even though you have latest version installed do a bit of a clean install of the Flash plugin and download the cleaner tool from Adobe HERE and run.

Do same for Java Runtime and run this tool called JavaRA to remove old Java versions.

Then run CCleaner and its Cleaner and Registry tool (run the registry one until nothing shows for removal, do save the registry when it prompts you) then double check in

If 64bit Windows
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed and delete Macromed folder

If 32bit Windows
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed and again delete the folder

if 64bit, then check both areas, just in case.

Then download and install latest Adobe version HERE (do on the Majorgeeks download page click the Firefox, Safari and Opera users need this version link and install) also update Shockwave HERE

and Java HERE
