upgrade to SP2 Problem

I hope someone can help me with this stumper of a problem.
My system is a SK8N FX51 withe 6800BFG OCand a new IDE
hard drive.

The problem started when I tried to download SP@ of of a
microsoft site.Everytime I tried to click on the download the
comp. would stick. So a friend gave me a microsoft upgrade
CD with SP2 on it.I put in and followed instructions and put
in the number of the upgrade and the OS went on a loop,
starting to boot over and over again.I tried to boot with my
CD of windows XP pro and same thing.I pulled battery and
jumped the cmo tried it again no deal. I went into bios and
put first boot to hard drive,no deal.No matter what I try it
goes on this loop. I f someone knows what I can do then
I would very much apprciate the help.

Make sure all yor hardware drivers are up2date, and that your system is virus/malware/spyware free.

To assist with the later do the following:

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

 

You didn't read my post very well,I can't even get it to boot up!!!
How would I be able to do any of those things.

 

CAn youget to Safe Mode.

 

I have solved the problem,actually you are right I went into safe mode
and I got the chance to reformat so I did and installed windows,also
the os said that my copy of windows was either dirty or defective.So
I cleaned it and continued to finish.I just finished installing SP2.So after
three days of messing around I finally got it done. Thank you for your help.
