Upgrade to XP

Hello, I was trying to upgrade a cpu from 98 to XP I started with a 20 gig IDE HD and upgraded toa 120 gig IDE HD. it also had 190 MB of memory that i upgraded to 600 MB I then put the upgrade cd in and it took. every thing was great. I then messed with the memory because one of my 256 mb of SD Ram was not showing up. after I removed all 3 sticks even the original first one the CPU would not boot up all the way. So I tried to reinstall the upgrade and it started but there was an error. Now it says that I need a full version of XP to install. Can anyone help?

 

I suspect that you may well have to format the hard drive then reload windows 98 before being able to try the upgrade route again.
