upgrade?

So, just curious. I've been itching to upgrade my current computer. I've been thinking about going for the Ivy Bridge-E's (3rd quarter this year). But, with my current i7-920, will upgrading to 3730k worth it? I plan to max the memory. Dump my 2 vertex 3's and go with something more current at raid-0. Any thoughts?

 

hi normally if you have the money i would agree in the cpu upgrade..moving up from the quad core, but i see you are already running @4ghz do you use your unit much do you need more processing power??
or is it just because you can..im like that myself currently got an i7-3930K running @4.50ghz

i think you could definitely go for more ram..what memory and timings are you currently running?? also have you considered getting a SSD for running your OS
just bought one myself..and boot up time is amazing

 

My main game that I play is WoW. So, having a stronger cpu could help. So, far for my new setup I have a psu and a case.

You could say I don't go cheap when I upgrade. But, the 3730k upgrade will be a stop gap type of upgrade. I just have to figure out what board I want. What do you have?

 

hi im using the Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4

done some research that indicated the X79 was great for overclocking...and i agree

great choice of case love an aluminium case...i also went for a modular psu
not 100% sure you need any advice...seem pretty competent already, although a second opinion is always welcome
