Hello All. I recently purchased two sticks of RAM for my Lenovo y650. I purchased the RAM from Crucial so confident it is the correct RAM for the job.

Everything is working fine except the wireless connection is now so slow that it unusable. (THANK goodness for 8 foot ethernet cables...) and the mouse isn't working on the laptop (think I disconnected the mouse when installing the RAM only bring it up so All things are on table).

So I think the only issue is the wireless not working I tried searching through the Lenovo forums and there wasn't much help there. The driver for the Wifi link says it is working and the driver is up to date.

Any suggestions for how to test/repair the connection?

Thanks in advance for the help.

When you replaced/upgraded the memory, did you see a small (about 2" x 2" or smaller) card in a slot near the memory with both a black and white wire attached to it?

If so, turn off the PC, remove the battery and check to be sure the black and white wires are attached firmly. The card is the Wi-Fi; the wires are the built-in antenna for it.

    Hope this helps. :)

yes and I DEFINITELY knocked one of those loose but thought I had reattached. Wasn't 100% if that was the wireless card or not. With this Lenovo everything is under the keyboard so its a big ol' pain in the butt to take off so I wanted to get some feedback before I cracked it open again!

Thanks for the confirmation. I will let you know if that worked...

PS anything I should look out for in there that might make my mouse work again?

Thanks GMAN! I thought I had reattached that wire when I put it back the first time. But NO it was unattached as was the ribbon to the mouse. All is back in place now and working great. The computer is just cruising as well so all's well that ended well.

OK, so for future reference for anyone changing out RAM. Look at a schematic first!!!!!!! The RAM being under the keyboard threw me off and caused me to unplug everything. Last laptop I cracked you got to most everything from the bottom this was a new experience.
