i just bought a new comp.. it a emachine. Aldo most ppl say there not that great.. it just a myth , i find them to be as good as any other retail pc.

Anyway here are my specs.. what would u consider upgrade or increasing.
I noticed how i have 256mb of memory.. so i was thinking maybe boosting that up to 512 or a 1Gb.. since i do some video editing and lots of gaming.

RAM is nearly always the easiest and best upgrade you can do. :)

I agree, increase your RAM. Like Yargwel said, it IS usually the best AND cheapest upgrade to any machine.

Just a myth, or Opinion, how many of those ppl that say there not that great even owned one? But bunch of cash can always get you a better one!
My wife has Emachine, it's about 3yr old, Factory refurburished, It's been solid PC, zero problems.
The only changes/upgrades were adding memory & cooling = aftermarket HSF & one case fan.
Around the time I purchased her PC, Emachine was rated one of the best for Customer service & satisfaction.

It's pretty well known that thier PSU were skimpy, the wife still running stock psu.

Your best upgrades going to be Memory & Video card, I'd go 1g mim mem & 6600gt or better video
Make sure your PSU has enough juice.

ya so im probably gonna get 512Mb Ram ... ill add another 512mb ram.. sometime in the future.

Now about the PSU .. how do i check which one i have??? since i have no clue .. let me try EVEREST.

Anyway how much wattz would it take to power 1gig of ram and a pretty dam good video card.. not sure which one. Obviously 6600 higher.

1 gb of ram is good - i'd do it all at once though because if you dual channel it youll end up with 2X256 and no more slots - make sure your motherboard supports the 1GB and the speed though

I love my kid's emachine, its been very reliable and dollar of dollar better than my VAIO. I've added a 2nd HDD, 2nd CD drive, doubled the ram bringing it to 512MB and swapped out the PSU with a 420W Thermaltake. The old PSU was 250 Watts. Its best to talk the cover off and read the label on it and verify if its standard ATX. I agree with ST47, try uping to a 1Gig if you can, RAM tends to get more expensive as it gets older. Another way to know if you can handle it is too try one of the online memory config tool, crucial.com and corsair both have them.

The AMD Sempron 3300+ has a default ( un-overclocked ) speed of 2ghz so he is correct in the reporting of the speed of his CPU at being 2008mhz.

Just a quick FYI, always back up data and be carefull when running any sort of hardware upgrade on an E-machine if the O/S came preinstalled. If the Microsoft Windows activation comes up, you are hosed, no one from Microsoft or E-machines will be able to activate you.

Generally only a concern when switching motherboard or other MAJOR hardware component, and generally fixable by running the recovery CDs if the hardware change was not major, but just thought I'd give you a quick heads up! :)

Well you're on onboard video, and if you're gaming, you may want to invest a little in a video card. What kind of games do you play?
