upgrading capabilities?

Hello, I purchased a Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7224 PSK40U-016003 Notebook PC - AMD Quad-Core A6-3400M 1.4GHz, 8GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, DVDRW, 17.3" Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Silver from Tigerdirect.com the other day. What i want to know is, if it is possible to upgrade the processor to a faster one and if so what are they? (Sorry, that I do not know the details as to what processor class/type is compatible with another...)

 

Ya, that's a pretty slow quad. Why do you think an upgrade is needed, what are you trying to run? What does Toshiba say about possible upgrades as they would obviously know best. Anyways, I can't find anything on their site that specifies upgrades, perhaps there are none?

Heat is always a concern in laptops plus battery life. I have found that replacing a CPU that's less than a %30 increase in performance is not worth the money, who's going to buy your current one for a decent price anyways?

 

Well, I want to be able to run all the newer games with the highest settings smoothly. Toshiba hasn't said anything about upgrading the processor as it is the holidays. I will ask them tomorrow or Tuesday. The laptop was only $551 with shipping and all that.

 

You might find it impossible to upgrade the CPU on a laptop without extensive and expensive reworking. Your best bet would be to return the laptop/RMA it and get a better laptop.

 

It might not be that easy.

Anyway, I don't think your CPU will be an issue but the GPU will.
