I am trying to do a fresh install of windows 8 x64 bit but I get a graphic problem during the installation and the installation fails. I tried numerous times and even in different drives and still the same. The disc is genuine which was bought at a retail store.

    I am stuck. :confused

32 bit version installs fine and without problems but the only reason i'm going to 64 bit is that it picks up my 4gb ram while on 32 bit it says only 3.32GB usable.

You will want to do a clean install.

32 bit to 64 bit is not a valid upgrade path.

I just want to confirm real quick, this is Windows 8, and NOT 8.1, right? Check your disc please.

Windows 8.1 doesn't support your CPU.

For 32 bit yeah, Windows 8.1 is fine on that CPU.

    Did you format the drive?

I apologize, I am out of ideas. It almost seems like a GPU failure, but I don't know why 32 bit would work and 64 bit would not.

Can you physically uninstall the graphics card and use the motherboards onboard graphics just to get the OS up and running? Then install the graphics card again.

That was a idea I thought of but as soon as I re-enable the graphics card it stops the win 8 from booting i have to run on onboard graphics untill the windows boots up and then the card kicks in.

Update:- Installed win 8 x64 without graphics card and it worked i put in the graphics card and re-enabled it and it stopped win 8 from booting. I am going to contact microsoft regarding this issue.

Update:- According to Microsoft the windows 8 64 bit has problems installing on some NVidia graphics cards, it needs to be a kepler chip which mine isn't. There is no fix around this so basically they told me I need to go out and get another graphics card.
