upgrading help

alright well im thinking of finaly upgrading this computer since i use it to play games and lately its been getting shitty fps

So to get ready for new games im looking into getting a new motherboard , cpu , videocard

Currently i got all stock computer compaq 6353CA

i want to put this in

1GB of DDR2 memory.. which type would i need?

Eventually i will get a 300GB harddrive but right now ill stick with my 80GB.
Do i need fans to keep this setup cool? Also how do i know if my current powersupply can support all this new stuff?

It would really be helpful if you can list anything that i am missing.

installing wise would the old stuff just come out and the new stuff just go in? im new to this type of stuff

"upgrading" this system doesnt seem like a very financially smart decision...you could get a much better PC for the amount you're spending to bring this one up to speed.

one problem i can see is trying to get the mobo to fit in the compaq case. most manufacturers like Compaq make their mod's specifically to fit in that case, im not sure if it is microATX or not which may or may not allow the new mobo to fit.

the only thing you're gonna be reusing is the hdd, case and disc drives, it's pretty much a new PC. you're gonna need to upgrade the PSU to run an 8500GT also

but it's all up to u, if u wanna do it then go ahead. everything should go together fine. oh, and the RAM u wanna get is DDR2 533

i just hit me.. pretty much the only thing that im keeping is the HDD , thats all that really matters to me is that the computer seems exactly the same.

what kind of PSU are looking at here? because im really liking this case
