Sorry in advance for the long post. >.<

Ok, so I don't really know if I'm going about this the right way but I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me with upgrading my computer.

Mostly I'm looking to upgrade the RAM as the processor seems fine but I'm not quite sure how good the specs are for my computer. Here's what I've got, if you want me to list anything I'm missing let me know.

    OS: Windows XP SP2 Professional
Processor: Intel Pentium D 2.66GHz (Maybe 2 o.o as it lists 2 in the device manager)
Display Adapter: ATI RADEON Xpress 200 Series
    RAM: 960 MB
I don't know what my Motherboard is.

    If it helps, the programs I tend to run most often together include;
    Adobe Photoshop
    Adobe Illustrator
    Paint Shop Pro
    Wakan (A translator program)
    Microsoft Word
Winamp (with a list of about 25-100 songs)
    AutoDesk Maya
and Firefox (1-2 windows with 10-20 tabs)
    ZoneAlarm
    AVG Virus Scanner
    IObit Security 360
    Advanced SystemCare
    UTorrent
    CursorFX

This should help give an idea of about how much RAM I might need.

I'm not really looking to do a complete overhaul or anything just want to speed it up as it maxes out when I'm working on my projects. Ideally I'd like 2GB of RAM or better. I'm not sure what to go with and how much it might cost so some different options would be nice. Cheap and/or expensive, just looking for the best solution.

    Go here first:
    http://www.crucial.com/
There you can find out exactly what type of ram and how much your motherboard can support.

    then get this app:
    http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
Its a freeware application called Everest Home Edition, it will give you a complete readout of your entire system.

You may also want to look into upgrading your Video Card and your power supply to handle the upgraded hardware.

The motherboard is the key to knowing what type pf RAM your system will accept.. Follow the steps of the previous poster, find out what type od RAM your system supports, then upgrade to 4 MB of RAM, the most XP will recognize.

If that is XP Pro 32Bit you should have SP3 for it. I agree with mopar use Everest or open the run window and type in dxdiag and note the System Manuf and Model of the mobo and then a lot more advice can be provided.

Your PC most likely has DDR or DDR2

    2GB of DDR2 runs about $30

As people above me said we need more information to point you to the correct ram.
