upgrading my pc

hi i was hoping to upgrade my pc but im a bit of a n00b when it comes to buildin them i need some help i rlly what to upgrade my processor and my graphic card i dont no what socket my mother board is but my processor is a x86 family 6 model 8 amd and my graphic card is a radeon 9200 thx for help

 

Can you identify your motherboards make and model?? You need to know that in order find out what your motherboard can handle as far as upgrading the cpu, video card, memory, etc.!!

Once you find out the mobo make and model, we can research, that and find out the specs in order to see to what extent you can upgrade, and what kind of socket it is etc.!!

You can download cpu-z from this website. cpu-z Go to the tab that says "mainboard" and then list what it says about chipset and southbridge.

well I wouldnt have recommended CPU-Z to figure out what motherboard you have-- a program like Everest would be more specfic, but i can still tell you what you've got.

Your KT400 chipset will support any AthlonXP and probably any Sempron, provided you BIOS flash to the latest version.

as you probably already know, you have an AGP8X graphics port, so you can have any AGP card on the market.

 

how do i get the lastest bios plus are u sure i can get any athlon xp or septherion thxs

 

and i forgot to say my pc is about 1 and a half years old just incase
