Hi I am a newbie at upgrading computers and am having problems installing my ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 video card.

I have a HP 2600+AMD Athlon XP processor with an integrated NVidia GeForce 4MX GPU running WinXP service pack 2.

I uninstalled all my nvidia drivers and plugged in my ATI card but all I get is a black screen when I power up. The instructions say that I should be able to access my bios to disable the onboard card when i restart but i can't see anything.
If I uninstall my nvidia drivers won't that also uninstall the GART drivers which I need for an AGP card?

Please help, any help would be much appreciated. Thank You

All you SHOULD have to do is 1. Uninstall your nVIDIA video drivers 2. Disable onboard video card (you DONT need to go into BIOS to do this) 3. Install your ATi Catalyst drivers 4. Restart and goooo!

Be sure to have your video card installed at all times (you new one i mean).

Im pretty sure these are the right steps, unless i forgot one...

Thanks, everything is working fine now. One more question though, you said to uninstall the video drivers, what about all my other drivers: nvidia audio, gart and the like, should i uninstall those too?

Leave those drivers on, those drivers are for your motherboard's nVIDIA chipset(s).

Although that ONLY applies for certain motherboards. Do you happen to know what motherboard you have?

Good luck with your new card!

Ok then you'll need to occasionally drop by nvidia.com and download platform / nforce drivers (for your motherboards chipset) and youll have to drop by www.ati.com to download new catalyst drivers for your video card. So you'll need to leave all your other nvidia drivers on your comp.
