Upgrading Ram- where to buy?

Hello All! I want to speed up my laptop, I have 768mb current memory installed- the scanner at Crucial says I can go to 2 sticks of 1GB each. Their price seems to be awfully high (over 82 pounds incl VAT, I haven't done the conversion to $'s), but am I safe buying from Ebay? any suggestions where to buy from, maybe Tiger Direct? Thanks!!! Your signature states that you are from Tilton, New Hampshire. So, why are you looking at the Crucial site that is giving you prices with a VAT? VAT is only used in Canada.

 

I have had very LUCK with Ebay, but I only bit on well known brands and with sellers of good reputation. I just picked up 2g of the old style Dell ram for $50.

 

It's in the UK, which has VAT too- I was using the Crucial site for the scanner. I don't think I would be charged VAT, I'm not subject to it.

Thanks Puppywunder58!!! WOW, what a BIG difference in price, I really appreciate it! It's also good to have a site recommended to me, I just don't know what I would get from ebay as I don't have a previous vendor in that line.

I suspect that the OP was using Crucial to see what RAM was compatible with the laptop, not necessarily to purchase from them.

But looks like everything is sorted here anyway!
