Upgrading to XP

I already have 2 XP machines of my own, one is a laptop and one is a desktop, but my family has a Windows ME computer. A few months ago my father brought back a XP disk from work and wanted me to update his ME system, but I've hesitated to do so because the computer is kind of slow. Would putting XP on it bog it down even more? I'm just trying to see if you guys think updating this ME system to XP is a good move or not, and if you have any tips for when I install the software (if I do). I can't get you the system specs at the moment, because the computer isn't infront of me .. but if you need them I can get them later tonight.

 

Needs specs first..

 

you can only install 1 copy of xp on 1 pc due to the ms registration process. but, to answer your question, we would need the specs of the pc to determine whether or not to install xp on that pc. one thing is for sure, ME sucks. 98 would be better than ME if you can't install xp on it.

* 233 MHz minimum processor (with Intel Pentium/Celeron family, AMD K6/Athlon/Duron or compatible processor)
* 64 MB RAM
* 1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space
* Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor
* CD-ROM or DVD drive
* Keyboard and mouse

According to me:
* 700 MHz minimum processor (with Intel Pentium/Celeron family, AMD K6/Athlon/Duron or compatible processor)
* 128 MB RAM
* 4 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space
* Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor
* CD-ROM or DVD drive
* Keyboard and mouse

 

actualy i have installed one copy of xp on 3 systems and it works fine.

 

actually that's illegal unless you have 3 keys..
