So we have a UPS that has had a dead battery for quite some time. I want to replace the battery, which is no big deal. My question is: is there a way to test the UPS that it is actually still functional before investing in the battery and then after finding that it does not work, having to go ahead and just buy a whole new UPS?

Forgot to include the UPS Model. It is an APC Back UPS, NS-1250.

Thanks for the help?? I took the chance and ordered the battery. It seems to be working fine.

I don't know where you are, but around here there are Batteries Plus, they might be able to test it. If you manage many UPS's you might watch this video
he shows you how to test a new battery and measure its health.

It is cheaper to get a battery and test, than buy a whole new UPS, plus environmentally friendlier.

If you have a Batteries Plus they take old batteries off your hands too.

In the US, we have Batteries + Bulbs. They carry a replacement battery for my UPS model, an APC unit. They also recycle. Additionally, if something is wrong, it is guaranteed for 1 year and much easier to replace than going back and forth mailing things.
