Urgent: Can't Login To PC

I went into User Accounts via Control Panel and tried to set my account so that it would NOT require a password anymore... I did this, and rebooted about a day later... It's now prompting me for a password and NOT accepting the password i previously used. I am 100% certain this is the same password, and i have NO idea why it's asking me for one when i "changed the way users log on"... i am the only account on the computer and i was the administrator when logging on and making changes...

don't know how to access my desktop again =\

tried Safe Mode and that doesn't work either...

i'm on Windows XP SP2

 

Boot into Safe Mode and log into the 'Administrator' Account and reset the password for your 'User' Account.

 

He said it dosent work

 

He said he tried safe mode, He didn't say he tried to log into the 'Administrator' Account there is a difference between being an Administrator and the Administrator Account.

Shadow can you specify how to do that? Like word for word please. When I boot into safe mode, and try to start up, it prompts for password again. The account name that pops up is the only account that's ever been on the computer. And like i was saying earlier, there has only ever been ONE password on this computer. My user name comes up as Mike Craca which is my profile but the pw doesn't work.

When you logon do you use the Welcome Screen or the Logon Dialog?

 

oaky weirdest thing man... my brother just advised me to just click OK when i get the password prompt because he said his computer does the exact same thing... i boot my computer up and sure enough, i just click OK without entering a password and it takes me right to my desktop, lmao...


okay could you troubleshoot me through the options so that i don't get prompted for anything whatsoever, please?

 

In safe mode log on to Administrator and leave the password blank, if that doesn't work try admin as the password.

 

Open User Accounts in the Control Panel click on your profile and then change the password for your profile. Did you use TweakUI to set up autologon, if so disable autologon for you account. Then boot back into Normal Mode and see if that fixes your problem.

 

sorry SPD i'm a little confused... as far as i know, i removed any password linked to my account...

i do have TweakUI on my comp, and i just checked, and i don't have autologon option checked off... so what exactly should i do?

How did you originally configure your account for auto logon.

 

it's never been set up for autologon... I had a password on my account when i lived with roommates... and it's been that way forever... just recently i got rid of the password linked to my account, it's gone, i went back into my user account and it only gives me the option to create one... so should i open TweakUI and check off that Auto Logon feature?

 

You said. xp. Well, which XP is my question. HOME or PRO?

Also, if this was pro, you can access the admin account via the CTRL + ALT + DEL (x2) then type in administrator, then password. note: This is for others who wish to know this. Home....doesn't really support this.

Uncheck Auto Logon in TweakUI, create a new password for your account if you aren't the only only wit access to your computer, or you want to pasword protect your system.
