Urgent monitoring required

I was trying to find a program to monitor my son on his computer through logging chats etc and it got me into a heap of problems which has taken me about 10 hours to fix. You may think I shouldn't be monitoring him, however, it is for security reasons.

He is only 15 and I believe he is hanging around with a bad group and is possibly into drugs.

I really would like to find out what he is up to so that I can help him before it is too late.

Can you suggest a good monitoring software for msn, myspace etc?

There would be nothing better than for us to be able to sit down and talk things thru but unfortunately thats not an option and he keeps his door locked. We have a really good relationship as in I know he respects me and he knows I love him very much.

I have seen quiet a big change in him and he suffers depression which may well be due to coming down. He has started to lie, fail at school and is not that interested in doing that much at all.

If there was another option available I would most certainly consider it and believe me I have tried the communication method.

Geez starting to sound like a about my life site lol. Sorry about that. I dont like to spy but I feel helpless atm.

You can do 1 of 2 things.

1. Create his own user account on the computer, and make it a limited user account so that he cannot download/install software. That way you can prevent him from using such programs.

2. In addition, chat programs such as MSN (windows live messenger) by default save files of each chat session (word for word the entire conversation). My Documents > My Received Files

Great re the log, thank you, I didnt know that. At least that is a good start providing he doesnt delet it. He has a password on his computer so I can only hope he forgets to switch it off sometime
