I've had it. I am sorry, but AVG has got to go. I love it, and I will keep it on my XP machine as long as it's humanly possible, but it just isn't working well in my 64-bit Vista install. Updates either freeze, or take forever, and it keeps running multiple occasions of itself in the background, when all I want is one... scans take far longer than they should, and in general, it just seems cranky.

I have tried Avast in the past and liked it, but never in Vista 64-bit. Has anyone, and how did it work?

AVG's sluggishness and refusal to update is driving me nuts, but I am too paranoid to get rid of it until I have a good replacement.

    Hi Mimsy

Yes I did try Avast in x64 vista and it worked perfectly, had no issues at all, AWIL was one on only a handful of companies that did embrace the beta period of Vista and as such gained valuable feedback from the 3000 internal MSFT testers on Vista so they ended up in my opinion making a very good Vista compatible AV.... I use the x86 one with no issues, only a driver issue has stoppe dme from going x64 at present, but I think thats resolved so may go x64 soon on one PC
