can someone pls tell me what the URLs are for the 3 videos here? i'm on dialup and need to use GetRight or the like to download them.

    http://electionwire.wbur.org/2010/09/21/video-governors-debate

i looked at the source, but i don't quite understand how to merge the "embed player" links with the content/ID links. trying the obvious:

    http://release.theplatform.com/cont...6eT3E6_CNaZhfI4oKJF8djAkNl&MBR=true&zone=home

gives me a funny half page with the following link (among other things):

    rtmp://cp88161.edgefcs.net/ondemand/sportsnetNECN/499/837/092110_debate1_7pm_Flash_High.flv

i figure that is more-or-less the link, but that "rtmp" tag does not lend itself to downloading. nor does changing it to "http" by hand.

how do i tweak to access the actual FLV file?

Hi CatT, since you are on dial up (me too! Welcome!LOL) have you tried the Free Download Manager ?

I use it, and it will dl it much easier than trying to dl them on dial up alone. Once downloaded, you can convert the file, from flv to wmv, or whatever your choice of viewer you have. It has been quite valuable to me.

It also downloads large files, and if you lose your connection, you won't lose your download. It will pick back up where it left off,.. I hope this helps.;)

As far as analyzing the links, nope, I can't do that, but maybe the FDM can help with that. :wave

Sorry about that, CatT, I just tried them with mine, and they won't dl. I did get the Vernor's one to dl, but can't convert it.. Bummer. First time this has failed me..:cry

yeah, orbit can't handle it either.

i would prolly give up had i not gotten as far as a link with "... download1... FLV" in its name. that is OBVIOUSLY the link, but i dunno what to do w that "rmtp".

wiki page and google point me at a few rmtp "downloaders", so i guess i have to employ one of those. ironically, first one up is...ORBIT(!)...but i'll try one of the others (e.g. FLVstreamer).

    will report back!

    REPORTING BACK:

ok, what *is* FLVstreamer?! it looks like a 134k APPLICATION ("...exe"), but it doesn't "run" like anything i've seen (quick flash of DOS screen, then disappears). i was expecting it to be a free-standing app which i could plug the URL into. no such luck.

    :(

description on download site calls it a "command-line app" working on "RTMP fork"....

    beyond me.
