USB 2 mini drive

I have a memorex thumb drive that is actually a small hard drive.
I tried downloading rhapsody player because it is a freebie from my broadband provider.
The player screen froze the first time I tried to open it and forced me to do an illegal shutdown.
My PC would not boot again in any mode and I had to reload XP.
It was working fine until I went to access my thumb drive and it was not on the menu so I pulled it and reinserted it.
This caused my mouse and keyboard to freeze and I could not do anything.
After a restart everything works fine but the little drive causes a freeze as soon as I insert it.
I spaced out and left the mini drive in the USB slot during the format / reload but the drive write lock was on so I don't see how it could be corrupted
There are no conflicts or dual listings on the IRQ list.
This drive does not use safe removal so that is not the problem.

 

I had a similar pen drive, used it once, and told it was corrupte the next time I used it.
Someone might give you hope, but I binned mine.
