Hi there, as the title says, I went to bed and woke up with my PC restarted with fresh updates installed. When I log onto my Windows 7, everything connected through a USB 3 port doesn't work.

I though just re-installing the USB 3 drivers from my mobo disk was sufficient but no, so I went to their website to get the install from there and nothing. Went to my Device Manager and no yellow exclamation points, so according to it everything is connected and active. So why won't my USB 3 work anymore?

I use a Gigabyte GA 990FX-A UD3 AM3+ motherboard and Windows 7. (think that's all the specs you need to know about my PC to help with my issue, if not, let me know)

Have you rebooted? Sometimes the simple and often overlooked obviously thing is the easy and best fix.

Yes, I have rebooted. Also tried uninstalling the USB 3 driver but it doesn't let me. Only lets me repair or add but then fails saying it doesn't locate any connected devices to repair or add.

Check in Device Manager again, but with an internet connection. Go to each USB device one by one > right click > properties > update driver > search automatically , wait and see what the result is.

Says that I already have the latest updates with each one of them.

Apart from choosing a System Restore point before this issue first occurred - just to see if that did indeed cause it - I can't think of anything else.

You might also run Windows built in troubleshooter. From the Start menu (or Control Panel) search box, enter Troubleshooting. Open the Troubleshooting applet and click on View All then select Hardware and Devices and see if that helps.

It's what I suspected, but I don't know how to fix it. The only changes I made recently was the auto windows update which re-booted my PC while I was sleeping, so the cause of it can only come from the updates windows installed. According to the screenshot from the troubleshoot, there were hardware changes that the system did not detect... So does this mean that the USB 3 hubs stopped working but my windows did not detect the change? If so, how do I fix it?

I looked up the 2 updates it installed:

Sadly the screen shot wasn't readable as you didn't do a alt + PrtScr key combination, which produces a focussed screenshot, not one of the whole screen.

You can consider doing a test by, 1) create a system restore point NOW, 2) use a system restore point immediately BEFORE those WU updates and restore it and see if the issue is solved.
