USB Auto-detected no happening!? Any ideas?

    Hey guys & girls...

    I got a Dell Laptop here and i have been trying to work out why it won't auto-detected any of the USB devices i plug into it.

    I have even done a Reinstall of Windows XP Home SP2 and still nothing.

    I am trying the owners Devices and my own.

    USB Mini Mouse
    USb Card Reader
    USB - LAN Converter (Mine)

    None of these work but they work fine on other machines as per normal. Also they worked on this laptop before...

    So any ideas as to what this could be.

    The USB Mouse even lights up but nothing happens when you plug anything into the laptop!

    Hi

    Check BIOS that USB is enabled and also re-install the Chipset Motherboard drivers, DELL will have these listed on their support driver page for your model DELL http://support.dell.com/


    If in Device Manager there are yellow ! marks list them all.

    I have checked that one of the first things i checked. Also i have messed around with drivers. Its so odd. Looking at it for the time i have looked at it now i think it is looking more at a hardware fault.

    I will go through these tomorrow. Thanks for the links i was looking for something like thsi in work today but i never got round to finding the time to look for them. Shall update you on them tomorrow.
