USB benchmark utility needed

I originally posted this on the hardware forum but got no responses. I'm trying to determine how fast my USB PCI card transfers data. I looked online for software that would do the job & found a hardware jumper device that costs about $50 but there must be a software utility that can do it.
Here's an example of what I'm trying to accomplish: I created a dummy file of about 100 MB and copied it from my IDE drive to my Seagate USB drive. It took about 7 seconds (checked while looking at an analog clock - not very accurate). There must be a way to benchmark USB devices and record the results exactly. Anyone have an idea of where to look? Maybe someone knows of a command-line method of copying data from point to point with the results time-stamped to a text file.
    Thanks,
    Deacon
