Hi! I have a Win10/64 laptop with a USB CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive, and the drive is not writing to mastered-format CD-RWs. I really want to use a CD-RW to back up my code. What could be causing this? How do I fix it?

So the drive doesn't recognize the media when inserted? In the old days of CD-ROM drives, way back with IDE, you would have to update the firmware sometimes in order to add new manufactures to the data table for their disks to be recognized. Might check the manufacture's website for firmware updates to that drive. At least that is how I understood it and it usually worked.. geez I remember custom firmwares for messing with DVD regions, ah this old timer does ramble on sometimes....

Thank you. I'll try it now. :)

I searched DriverGuide.com and didn't find it. :( Live System mode works, though.

Foogoo: it recognizes the media. It just gives an error message every time I try to burn the disc. Again, Live System mode seems to work, but I want Mastered mode. :(

I could use my WinXP laptop to do the job. It would be easy to transfer the files, as they're on a flash drive. :)
