Hi guys, I'm returning to you after a long problem-free couple of years but now I'm back with a fun exciting problem on my PC, please help!

    ASROCK P67 Extreme
    Intel Core i5 2500k@3.30ghz
    16gb Ram
    Win7 64bit

I have USB problems, at some point a long time back the USB ports on my motherboard stopped working, all of them. I thought maybe they got fried or something so I installed a new USB hub (i think thats the word) and added four new ports on the backside of my PC. Those never worked quite right but they have functionality, just sometimes I have to disconnect and reconnect my wi-fi dongle or mouse.

Under Device manager it shows a yellow exclamation point under Other Devices> Universal Serial Bus controller, and it shows two of them having a problem.

    Steps taken so far:
Remove all USB devices and uninstall (via device manager) the USB controller drivers and everything listed under USB devices and then restart. On restart it automatically reinstalled most of the USB devices I had deleted but I lost all functionality including the "new" USB hub meaning I had no wi-fi and no mouse so I did a system restore.

    Other potential clues:

Currently, only the new USB hub works, and that is hit or miss. I have to remove and reinsert the wifi dongle just about everytime I boot up the PC and then it will work.

I have a Gigabyte wireless mouse (cheap intended for laptop) that works fine using a USB.

Recently bought a Eblue Maser wireless mouse for gaming and it functions halfway but every 5 seconds it will lag onscreen for just a moment. At one point (not sure what I did) it showed an installation in the bottom right corner after I inserted the USB stick for this one and the mouse functioned fine but it stopped working correctly after the restart.

Help please! Thanks again guys, you've been helping me for close to a decade now.

I couldn't figure out how to edit my original post but I actually solved this one on my own. It's not the elegant solution, more of a brute force but results are results.

I went through and manually downloaded and installed every USB 3.0 controller I could think of

    Via
    Etron
    Intel

and one of them did the trick, even my original USB ports are working now, Hallelujah. I might be back real soon with a Samsung SSD problem, but we'll save that for another day.
