My husband got a new camera last week and has been plugging it into his laptop and it has been working fine.

Until today, now when we plug it in it comes up usb device not recognized and says that the device has malfunctioned.

The only thing that's changed on the laptop (that I know of) is that I downloaded Adobe Reader yesterday because the instructions for the camera are on pdf.

Also, I tried the camera on my laptop and it works fine, so I copied the drivers for the camera onto a usb stick and plugged that into the other laptop and the usb stick comes up not recognized.

This is weird, I try another usb stick and it works fine, then I copy the drivers onto that usb stick and then that also comes up not recognized.

The mouse and keyboard usb is working fine, just anything related to this camera doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this and please keep in mind I'm technically challenged :)

If you've uninstalled the drivers from the device manger and replaced them the you may want to do a complete cold reboot if you haven't already. After shutting down be sure to unplug the computer or flip it's power supply switch off for a few seconds and then reboot. It would be nice if that's all it was.

Well I don't know if I've uninstalled the drivers, I certainly didn't know I was doing it if I did. Downloading adobe wouldn't do that would it?

I have already tried turning it off, unplugging the power cord, unplugging the battery, leaving for a while and then turning it all back on - no change.

Have you have tried another USB port on the laptop?

Oh I also tried to restore the computer to a couple of days ago, but it wouldn't let me. I went through the process and rebooted and came up and said it couldn't be restored to this time.

Try again in an hour, or a day ... System Restore can be buggy.

    Hi Shery,

Just a thought: Are you running the camera on batteries or an adaptor?
