Hi I'm not really experienced with PC's so please bear with me. I have a Creative Zen Vision M MP3 player which I got secondhand.
When I try to connect to the pc I get a message come up saying usb device unrecognized or malfunctioned, this seems to be a problem lots of other owners have had. When I go to device manager it shows as unknown device. If I try and troubleshoot, it says there are no drivers, Creative do not supply drivers on the installation CD, they are supposed to come from Windows XP.

I've tried all of the usb ports, but it says the same thing, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling SP2, and uninstalled WM11 and installed WM10 ( other forums have suggested doing that). I've tried everything I can think of apart from reformatting the player as I don't want to lose the stuff that was left on the it from the previous owner (who I can't get hold of) 'cos I can listen/watch which is better than nothing at the moment. As I'm not working, I don't have access to another PC to see if it connects there. Any suggestions please? I hate being without my music and stuff

    Did you download from creative?

Have you gone through add/remove hardware? Then had the system scan and search for a driver for your device.

Did you install the software? I saw this
whih leads me to believe that the computer might not see it until the software is installed.

yeah I've installed the software from the Cd, but I can't update the firmware as the PC doesn't recognize the player in order to get the hardware on it. Its a vicious circle

Are you sure the connection gizmo and cable is working properly?
Have you tried it on another computer?

I'm not working at the moment and don't have access to a PC, but the cable is working as I can charge the player with it.

If you have no friends willing to test to see if it is the device or your computer or the player, then I guess we've reached the end.
