   hi, i have the same thing...
   i got my ne pc few weeks ago
   P4 3Ghz with ASUS motherboard.
   i installed the driver for the motherboard and now im trying to put my HD from my old PC (P3) throw a usb-ide cable .
   in the BIOS my USB 2 is on...
   here is a pic from the device manager...
   i put the old HD on master,slave and cs but nothing goes on.

   Which motherboard version/model name?
   Which windows version & service pack you using?
   
   IS the HD from your old PC a USB one, if so what make/model?
   some USB HDs need the drivers from the manufacturer to work have you installed them.
