   Hi
   
   I have a gateway laptop windows xp sp2 no usb devices will work when plugged in. I get usb device not reconized, a device connected has malfunctioned etc. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled usbs in device manager. anyone have any ideas? thanks

   This seems like a weird thing to do but apparently it has worked for quite a few people. You need to disconnect your notebook from the electrical outlet and remove the battery for 30 minutes. Then put in the battery and plug it in to the electric. Warning: if the CMOS battery is nearing the end of its life, don't do this. You will lose all your BIOS settings.
