At 500gb external drive WDPassport I have about half the tv recordings or avi files. It is formatted to NTFS, which cannot read Sony VCR. It can only FAT32. Can be convert the disk to FAT32 without data loss or the need to back up? FAT32 drives have a problem with the size of 40GB, as I found out. Can anyone help?
    thanks

The file limit for fat32 is 4GB NOT 40GB.

FAT32 to NTFS is straightforward and simple, the other way around, like you want, is fairly complex.

If you have files larger than 4GB, many nested folders or files and folders with very long names, I wouldn't recommend you do this, because FAT32, does not support these and hence you could lose them regardless.

    Try this program.

His English wasn't too clear, I thought he meant he had a 40GB file like a movie file or something. Not trying to format a 40GB drive. In either case, both the softwares I sent and you sent should work.
