    Hello All,

First, I Have a relatively new Toshiba satellite C875, Intel Core i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz w/4.00GB(3.89GB useable), 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor. I was trying to use my Sandisk 64 GB cruzer glide (The drive was never password protected) when the computer asked if I wanted to update. During the process it asked if I wanted to make a start disk set. Forgetting(and really not worrying about) that the USB drive was in I went to get a CD set. When I looked back it was attempting to format the USB drive so I pulled it out with out hesitation. Now when I try to use the drive or get information off of it I get the following message "Please insert a disk into Removable Disk (E).".

When I look in my computer the drive is shown and listed as Removable Disk (E). When I click on the properties of the drive it will not let me run disk check or De-fragment. In Device manager the flash drive is listed as SanDisk Cruzer Glide USB Device. When I click on the item to look into the properties it says "The device is working properly". In volumes everything is blank. The driver is up to date. Under events the driver Name is listed as disk.inf.

The drive currently cannot be accessed and no information can be read or retrieved from it. I have tried using Recuva with no luck because it cannot gain access to the drive.

I have tried to include all information on the device and problem. Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

    :cool

Do you have information you wish to retrieve?

Are you able to format it:confused or is format is out of the question?

It does sound like the file system has been damaged beyond repair or the drive has actually been damaged when it was removed during format, even though it's rare.

The only advice I can give would be to try and rebuild the file structure or use a data recovery tool to recover and recuva is a good one so one idea down already.

Run this, open the zip and run the testdiskwin, in the command box select start new log then choose proceed, make sure you have the right disk selected, select auto partition type, advance partition utils then repair MTF 'master file table'.

If they are not here or drive can't be detected your out of luck, if it can repair the file table run recuva again.

Other than that send the drive to a data recovery specialist, or try to format it and save the drive.
