USB hard drive

    I recently purchased a Seagate FreeAgent 500G USB drive.
    It won't install.

    The PC recognizes the drive however the XP software can't complete the install.

    There have been a lot of USB devices connected historically but only mouse and keyboard at present .

    Any ideas

    Have you formatted the thing yet? Control Panel etc.

    BTW, why repeat your original post? :confused That just asks for confusion.:)

    So when you plug the thing in does it appear in the Device Manager under the USB Controllers list?

    are you sure your firewall is not stopping complete install?
