USB hd hook up mod dealy

Not sure what they are called, hence the whack topic title,

What do I need to get files from an old notebook hard drive to my new one? I remember hearing something about a usb hook up to just drop and drop the files, just wondering what those are called.

 

Those are called usb pc-link cables... BAFO manufactures one.. lpt.com sells some.. they come with some software like Aloha Bob Pc Relocator... or you could get a USB to IDE like this and take the one drive out and attach it via that cable and copy away...

 

or you could hook both machines up via a crossover ethernet cable.

 

Ok thanks for help foogoo, needed to know because moboard is burnt out on old laptop, have a million songs/pictures i need to get off of there.
