usb hdd's

    do they work for real? is it worth using or is it better the buy another internal hdd?

    well depends what your going to do with it..
    are you going to go to a friends house and share files?

    Way slow. Even USB2.0 Firewire external HDDs is the way to go. LaCiE make good ones. Perfect for backup, wouldn't use it as everyday data-storage.

    I use one all of the time. got a 80gig maxtor usb 2.0, fast enough for me. When I am backing up movies I use this and store music and pictures on it. I use it from one computer to another and find it very handy. I paid too much for it last year as you can buy a enclosure for less than 50cdn and a 40 gig drive for 65 now. You should remember if you start putting multiple drives in. make sure you have a decent power supply.

    yeah i'm looking to use it as a "server" drive so i can put all my media and big files on it and then plug it into which ever computer i am using or take it to a friends house.
