Neither my two USB ports from motherboard nor my three USB ports supported by card are working.
I checked BIOS and USB ports are shown to be ENABLED and supporting high speed.....
I then went into Device Manager and all ports ,hubs, contollers are said to be working properly..I tried to update drivers, just in case, and it indicates the latest drivers are installed...
I went into Power Management and unchecked box " allow computer to turn off devices to save power"... that's not the problem.. Ports still don't work..
I completely disconnected computer from wall socket for an hour, reconnected, no luck.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated
:confused While waiting, I think I'll light seven candles and dance around a dead cat:confused, I'm desperate:)

Hope that the candle light dance around the dead cat helped! :) In the event that it didn't, you could try unplugging all USB devices, and booting in Safe Mode. Go to Device Manager and delete/uninstall everything USB related and reboot in normal mode. At times this gets the USB working again. Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for your help. Did as you suggested but USB ports still not operating. Anything else that might work, still desperate

I had hoped that the Safe Mode deletion and rebooting solved your problem, but as you said, it did not. With everything that you had previously done and the Safe Mode deletion, this is pretty much all that I know to recommend for fixing the issue.

Only other thing that I can think of is to try reinstalling your chipset drivers, which may or may not help!

My next adivice would consist of two things, choose the least painful of the two. Back up everything on the computer that you want to keep to another source of media and do a reinstall of the OS, or buy a PCI USB card and install it. Strangely enough, even though the USB ports on your motherboard aren't working, an add in card usually does. Sometimes completely reinstalling the OS gets the ports back to working!

Before doing either, wait a while and see if anyone else has some ideas. There are some very good people that are members of this site! :)

I'm going to wait a day or two to see if someone else comes up with something else but I am of the same opinion as you, a reinstall or a new card may be necessary.
Hopefully optimistic and still will try anything.

Thanks again Novice, your assistance greatly appreciated, more than you may realize.
