    Hi,
Now that I have two external hard drives, I'm getting low on USB ports! (I have 4 USB ports on my 3-year old Gateway laptop).

So I got a Nexxtech USB hub, model N4PUM2. The cord looks a little flimsy, not sure if that's an issue. Is there any risk to my hardware, or are these things safe to use?

    Thanks!
    Karen

I have been using a D-Link DUB-H7 with 7 usb ports for a long while now and at times have had 7 thumb drives in at the same time (searching for a prog) with no ill effects to the PC.

Thanks, good to hear. I just wonder if the quality of the particular hub is an issue. I keep my laptop in one place most of the time, so the cord on the USB hub wouldn't be moving around a lot.

The cord will be more robust than you think so should not be a problem(just don't swing on it):-D
