Ok well, recently I have formatted my C:, got eveyrthing working again... BUT my removable disk drive which has my backup files...
Now before i formatted my C: it did work, USB worked fine.

Now.. it's just not working, i've tried multiple ways of trying to fix it..
    -Download many Drivers
-Stuff about BIOs? (i'm not very pro)
    -Updating everything.
    Still nothing. I run a Windows 98SE.

Everytime i've tried control panel > add new hardware and select the USB drive there is a 'exclamation mark', I double click this and it tells me..

    "Device Status
This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed. [Code 10.]
Try upgrading the device drivers for this device."
Well I've tried that, and failed. Everytime i download a driver, extract it into the C:\WINDOWS\Drivers folder and try re-updating driver it tells me..

"Do you want to install and run
    "C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\direct.b1"?
The publisher cannot be determined due to the problems below:..
The object to be verified is unknown to the Trust Provider."

    and then...

    "....USB Mass..
The best driver Windows found is already installed for this device...
    locationg of driver:
    C:\WINDOWS\INF\OTHER\MICROS~1.INF"

Which really bugs me because if it isn't working, how is it the best driver?
    So here's my question..
Anyone know a driver which fixes this? (i'm not sure which kind of USB it is apart from it telling me it's a USB Mass Storage Device.)
If anyone can give me a solution i'd be most thankful :p

The first thing you should do, is find out which chipset you have (common chipsets are Intel, VIA, SiS) and download the latest chipset software for your version of Windows. Since you unfortunately have a more-or-less obsolete Windows, new drivers will be few and far between, but you should be able to find something. If you have trouble, post the make and model of your PC and/or motherboard, and we'll try to find some drivers. In the past, Windows Update had updated USB drivers for Win98SE, but Microsoft no longer supports any OS older than Win2000, so I'm not sure if that's an available option. I suppose it couldn't hurt to try the Windows Update button off of the Start menu and see if that gets you anywhere.... :-D Good luck!
