Hi. I have an ASROCK SIS Motherboard and I'm having trouble figuring out how to make my microphone input (green input) work on the back of my computer. My USB microphone port works fine. But since I'm interested in recording music it won't work because I can't find a converter to change my 1/4 cable to an USB port plug. I think everything is hooked up ok. But I'm lost now. Thanks. Matthew.

Is this a new pc (freshly built) or a mobo change recently--??

On mine MS-6526-- if you do not use the jumpers on the mobo it will not redirect the signal to the rear audio ports(this refers to line out)

just a point to note - microphone inputs are pink color not green - green ones the line out. also if you are recording music from an external source, then you should be using the line in (blue color input). also make sure the correct source is selected in your volume control panel.
